Songs We Sing (06.11.2017)
When we sing together, we are corporately singing the praises of our God. It’s a participatory activity. This “Songs We Sing” post is a weekly effort to help us better learn the songs we are singing — as well as to gather some small insight into what we are singing. If you’d like a copy of the songs listed, a link is provided (where available). For the services of June 11, 2017, Redemption bands We Come Alive (in Jasper) and Always At The Ready (in Loogootee) led music and we sang:
FREEDOM IS FOUND
Written by Daniel Ross, 2010. Read Romans 8. That’s where most of the lyrics came from. Hopefully, this song helps us to understand that there is no other way to freedom except through Jesus.

ALL MY TEARS
Written by Julie Miller, 1993. A simple declaration and song of faith in eternal life with God. It’s an awesome assurance we have, knowing Jesus has paid it all. Musically, this is a really versatile song that can be done in many different ways.

Written by Kurt Neighbors, Daniel Ross, Andrew Kieffner and Mike Weisensteiner; 2011. This song was inspired by Psalm 72 and II Timothy 2 and has lyrics that focus on the goodness and might of God and how we should live in light of that truth.

IT IS WELL WITH MY SOUL
Written by Horatio G. Spafford, 1873 (Music by Philip Bliss, 1876). This hymn has a great/horrific story behind it. If you’ve never read it, check it out.

IN CHRIST ALONE
Written by Keith Getty and Stuart Townend; 2001. This is a modern hymn (meaning, it’s written in the classic hymn format) that has also become a modern classic in the church. It’s the complete gospel in four verses and is a great, great song.
Buy “In Christ Alone” by Kings Kaleidoscope.
Written by Cam Huxford IV and Ghost Ship, 2015. Ephesians 1:5-6 says, “God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son.” Solid lyrics reflecting on what God has given us by adopting us as His own.
