THE BOOK OF JAMES: EVERYDAY THEOLOGY

Beginning June 7 at 9 a.m., we will begin a verse-by-verse study through the New Testament book of James taught by CCJ Discipleship Minister Richard Crabtree. When we finish this discipleship class, we will understand the content of the book and its everyday wisdom and theology. No matter where you are in your walk with Jesus, this study is for you — and every believer. The class will run Sundays, June 7 to July 26 at 9 a.m. each Sunday morning upstairs at CCJ.

Changes To Wednesdays At CCJ

Christian Church of Jasper VBS 2012 Tuesday Dear Parents and Guardians,

On Sunday morning, we announced our Wednesday evening activities for The Spring and H2O will no longer continue after this season. We wanted to take some time to explain, in-depth, the reasons behind our decision. We hope this information will help explain the changes taking place.

The children’s ministry at CCJ has continued to grow and expand over time and, with this growth, we have been making adjustments. Recently, we added the new 2-year-old room, expanded our pre-school ministry, and added the new H2O service in Worship Center B. Sunday mornings have become the integral part of our children’s ministry here at CCJ. As we continue to grow, we will continue to make intentional decisions to improve our ministries.

For our current Wednesday evening activities, the children’s ministry has remained consistent in attendance. However, The Well for middle and high school students has grown tremendously on Wednesday evenings. What we have is a children’s ministry that is thriving on Sundays and a youth ministry that is thriving on Wednesdays. The CCJ elders and staff have come to the conclusion we will pour all of our efforts into Sunday mornings for children’s ministry and Wednesday evenings for youth ministry.

This should be a very positive shift for both of these areas. To date, The Well small groups have run out of room in the building to meet so they will gain all of The Spring classrooms. For children’s ministry, this shift will allow more time and energy to be focused on our Sunday morning programs (nursery, preschool, elementary and preteen).

Those of you who attend community groups on Wednesday evening at the church and rely on The Spring for child care during that time may be worried about this change. CCJ has allocated funds for child care reimbursements for affected community groups. Please use this reimbursement support to assist if your group decides to utilize child care. Sarah Weatherwax, our Involvement Director at CCJ, will be happy to talk to you about the process. Additionally, the nursery will still be open for The Well’s volunteers on Wednesday evenings.

Finally, we want everyone to know we have thoroughly enjoyed our Wednesday evening time in The Spring. We have loved all the nights of silly games, dance moves, worship and small group lessons with these kids. As part of a growing congregation, changes are inevitable, but change can be positive. We hope this will be a positive transition for us all as we follow God’s lead and prepare for the next amazing chapter of children’s ministry at CCJ.

Sincerely,

The CCJ Family Ministries Team
Hannah, Corey, Stephanie, and Drew

Summer Camps: Set For Adventure

Junior High Camp (current fifth- to seventh-grade students) will also head to Camp Illiana from June 15 to 20.

Both camps at Camp Illiana feature activities, including kayaking, hiking, a giant swing, high ropes course, a climbing wall, a 700-foot zip-line, field games, and much more.

Finally, our CIY MOVE trip (current eighth- to twelfth-grade students) will head to Holland, Michigan at Hope College from June 29 to July 4. This high school-only event includes premier speakers, incredible worship leaders, small group time, free time, and a trip to the beach.

These dates are coming sooner than you think. Get more information, including cost, and register your kids for any of these camps on Sunday at the Registration Center.

New CCJ Music: At One’s Never The Same Out Now

NEVER_THE_SAME_COVER-SQCCJ band At One recently released its first album, “Never The Same.” The album features 10 songs (nine originals and one classic hymn revamped by the band), including many CCJ favorites such as “Oh My God,” “Ready, Willing, Able,” “In The Sweet By And By,” and the title track “Never The Same.”

CDs are available in the lobby at CCJ (or HERE if you want a physical disc). CDs picked up at CCJ are for whatever you want to pay for them, even if its free.

You can also download the album on iTunes HERE.

Listen on Spotify.

This is one way we allow everyone to take the songs we sing together with them throughout the week, away from the walls of CCJ.
