Dear Parents and Guardians,
On Sunday morning, we announced our Wednesday evening activities for The Spring and H2O will no longer continue after this season. We wanted to take some time to explain, in-depth, the reasons behind our decision. We hope this information will help explain the changes taking place.
The children’s ministry at CCJ has continued to grow and expand over time and, with this growth, we have been making adjustments. Recently, we added the new 2-year-old room, expanded our pre-school ministry, and added the new H2O service in Worship Center B. Sunday mornings have become the integral part of our children’s ministry here at CCJ. As we continue to grow, we will continue to make intentional decisions to improve our ministries.
For our current Wednesday evening activities, the children’s ministry has remained consistent in attendance. However, The Well for middle and high school students has grown tremendously on Wednesday evenings. What we have is a children’s ministry that is thriving on Sundays and a youth ministry that is thriving on Wednesdays. The CCJ elders and staff have come to the conclusion we will pour all of our efforts into Sunday mornings for children’s ministry and Wednesday evenings for youth ministry.
This should be a very positive shift for both of these areas. To date, The Well small groups have run out of room in the building to meet so they will gain all of The Spring classrooms. For children’s ministry, this shift will allow more time and energy to be focused on our Sunday morning programs (nursery, preschool, elementary and preteen).
Those of you who attend community groups on Wednesday evening at the church and rely on The Spring for child care during that time may be worried about this change. CCJ has allocated funds for child care reimbursements for affected community groups. Please use this reimbursement support to assist if your group decides to utilize child care. Sarah Weatherwax, our Involvement Director at CCJ, will be happy to talk to you about the process. Additionally, the nursery will still be open for The Well’s volunteers on Wednesday evenings.
Finally, we want everyone to know we have thoroughly enjoyed our Wednesday evening time in The Spring. We have loved all the nights of silly games, dance moves, worship and small group lessons with these kids. As part of a growing congregation, changes are inevitable, but change can be positive. We hope this will be a positive transition for us all as we follow God’s lead and prepare for the next amazing chapter of children’s ministry at CCJ.
